The Future of Beauty

I have never been more ready to begin a new year. If there is one thing I have learned, it is to take one day at a time. That being said, I have been planning for the future, but in a general way. Like continuing the academy for NBR, Natural Beaded Rows. This academy is actually called DKW Styling Academy. It is based in California and is making it's way here to the east coast. I am one of two people in Maryland that are certified to do NBR (and in the Academy). I am learning advanced coloring techniques, the mind-body-soul connection in working as an artist, marketing, and the gentle hand-tied hair extension method which allows you to wear your hair in a ponytail and go undetected.

DKW Styling Academy is very rigorous. If I told you what I had to do everyday, you would wonder how I got anything else done. This training is also very expensive. I want to be the best so I choose to be trained by the best. Until I graduate, I have put some of my other studies slightly on the back burner. For example, I am also part of Thriver's Society. I have been in this group for almost two years now. This helps me to stay on top of everything else in the beauty industry besides what I do behind the chair. They helped me to build this website by myself! As an artist, I need to do so much more than hair. I need to be the CEO, CFO, CMO, and the COO. We could hire others, but they don't know our client's like we do. They don't know our business like we do.

So, while I have no idea what things will look like six months from now, I am thinking about the future of my art. I am teaming up with the best in my industry from all across the country and brainstorming. We think about your hair and the easiest color, the easiest maintenance (NBR is so easy to take care of while looking like you spent so much time on it,) and how to make your guest experience the best experience you have ever had. From booking your appointment, to relaxing in the chair. The world is changing, so the beauty industry will need to adapt with it. The beauty industry has always been there to make your life more enjoyable, and more beautiful. Now, it is changing to become easier than ever before. That is the future of beauty.

In times like these we really need something to feel good about. Why not our appearance? We don't want to fuss with ourselves too much because we are not going out, so it doesn't make much sense. You also don't want to come to the salon any sooner than you have to. Natural hair color is huge! Lived in color is another way to go. (That is when you look like you have a gradual, grown out root.) The eyelash extensions are fabulous too because you are not putting on a ton of makeup every day, but you look like you 'tried.' Plus, the eyes are the thing we are all looking at with the masks.

NBR extensions are great because you only wash your hair once or maybe twice a week The rest of the time it looks like you put so much effort into it! The goal is to look like you tried but, you don't need to. It is a little sneaky. That is why so many people are also getting permanent makeup as well. We don't really have the energy to spend, but we need to look in the mirror and feel good. In a sense, it is one of the things we can control these days.

I have seen the industry evolving towards lower maintenance for a while now, but it is really tipping the scales this past year. I call it high maintenance to become low maintenance. Why do I call it that? Because these things require longer hours in the salon. It is brilliant, actually. Spend a bit more time at once to save more time later. And while you are here, have a good time with us! ... xox!
