Things To Help When Your Hair Is Growing

When your hair is getting long and it is starting to drag, what can you do? Let's face it, we need to get creative. We all want to feel good especially as the weather is starting to open up. If we look good, we feel good. I am sure most of you have had some pretty crazy thoughts about your hair and what you might do with it during this quarantine. Your ideas could possibly get crazier by the day. Let's all take a deep breath. Sometimes what we can do to help it look better is easier than you think. I have actually had great success with my DIY kits and Zoom calls. But, aside from that, here are some other things you can do that will help. Some of it depends on whether your hair is on the shorter, medium, or long side to begin with but, here are some tips.
1) The one thing everyone can benefit from is dry shampoo. It helps to keep your hair from laying flat on your head. Your hair won't be so heavy. Not all dry shampoos are created equal. Some have more grit than others. So, if your hair is fine, you would want one that is lighter. Apply in about one inch partings and then, with your fingers at your scalp, shake or lightly blow-dry out the excess.
2) Another helpful product would be an oil for the ends. Just put a little right on the ends to disguise how split they are, or go to tip number 3. I also recommend a deep conditioning about once a week to make up for the extra time you will need to heat style it these days (break out the curling iron or flat iron), or you can go to tip number 4.
3) If you want to trim your hair, I suggest twisting the ends after sectioning your hair, one section per side and one on the top or bring it forward. (Maybe leave the back alone. Or schedule a Zoom call with me and I can walk a loved one through that with you.) Then, point the scissors up into the hair only getting the dead ends. I would say only trim 1/4 to 1/2 inch at the most. You can't really go wrong if you do this.
4 ) Try using fun clips if your hair is shorter a just do buns, ponytails or braids if your hair is long. I love how the braids are these days. Once it is complete, you gently pull out the edges of the braid and it makes it looks wider and more full. I should do a video and put it on here or my Facebook page.
I know, we don't like to have to think of new things. Change of any type is difficult. Especially when we are forced into it and it isn't our choice. But, here we are rocking it like champs. I am so proud of our nation. We are almost there. I just know it. Hang in there just a little while longer. I hope I will be able to open on May 1st. I still don't know for sure yet. I promise you will be the first to know.
